I caught up with SportsCenter host Robert Flores recently, here’s what he said:

Bryant Jefferson: Who do you think is the most improved team in the NBA?

Robert Flores: I think the Spurs. However, I’m still not sure they can beat the Lakers in a seven game series.

Bryant Jefferson: Do you think Dallas can contend this year?

Robert Flores: Playoffs yes, but (they) won’t get past second round.

Bryant Jefferson: Will Ouentin Richardson ever impact the NBA again?

Robert Flores: Not in a big way, but can be effective role player.

Bryant Jefferson: Does Rasheed, (possibly) Marquis Daniels, and a healthy KG make the Celtics the top contenders of the NBA?

Robert Flores: Man that’s a good question, I just don’t know. They are definitely among the top contenders.

Bryant Jefferson: Do you think Boozer’s idea to stay with Utah was smart?

Robert Flores: Yeah, because in light of the situation, he would get less money anywhere else.

Bryant Jefferson: Is Allen Iverson worth signing?

Robert Flores: That’s tough, if a team can get him for less a salary, it’s worth the risk.

Bryant Jefferson: Where do Jason Kidd, Marcin Gortat, and Allen Iverson go?

Robert Flores: I think Kidd will stay in Dallas, Gortat has agreed to the Dallas Mavericks, but Orlando has 7 days to match it, and will AI will probably go to Memphis and bring a scoring point guard to the team.

Bryant Jefferson: Who in your opinion, will win the NBA Finals next year?

Robert Flores: You know, their’s still some deals to happen, but I think the San Antonio Spurs will win it.

Bryant Jefferson: Do you think signing Ben Gordon was smart for the Detroit Pistons, considering they already have Richard Hamilton at the 2?

Robert Flores: That moved puzzles me, I like the Charlie Villenueva signing, but the Ben Gordon one puzzled me.

Bryant Jefferson: Who would fit the 2 for the Chicago Bulls now that Ben left?

Robert Flores: Uh…..well…..hmm……maybe Salmons or Deng, they could both play the 2. I think they’ll be fine, though.

Bryant Jefferson: Do you think Shaquille O’Neal and LeBron James will be good teammates?

Robert Flores: Yeah, I think that will work out fine. They need to manage his {Shaquille O’Neal} minutes and they’ll be fine. That won’t get them over the hump, but it’s a step in the right direction.

Bryant Jefferson: What team is most in need for a good free agent?

Robert Flores: I’m gonna say the Boston Celtics because teams around them have went out and improved, and I think the Celtics need to do the same.

Bryant Jefferson: What did you think of the Zach Randolph-Quentin Richardson trade?

Robert Flores: That’s a deal between two teams that are relevant, but Randolph is over payed, and it won’t make a huge difference on either side.

Bryant Jefferson: Was it smart by the Portland Trail Blazers to sign Turkoglu?

Robert Flores: Yeah, I think with Turkoglu’s ability to create shots and run the offense through himself will take some of the pressure of Brandon Roy.

Grey Giovanine: Coach Jessee has brought…….well, he graduated from Augustana, knows the college well, and helps a lot with recruits.

In 10 seasons at Augustana College, Grey Giovanine has compiled a 183-79 record, won four College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin championships and two CCIW Tournament championships, and taken three teams to the NCAA Division III Tournament.

Before coming to Augustana, Giovanine coached at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. He led the Cardinals to a remarkable turnaround, recording the program’s first wins over major programs Baylor, LSU, Ole Miss, Houston, USC and Western Kentucky.

Giovanine is a native of Sheffield, Illinois, and played collegiately at Central Missouri State, where he captained a 26-2 team as a senior in 1982.

And It’s a pleasure to say that I am interviewing him tommorow morning. I will have the Q and A posted at around 6:00pm tommorow.
