Ron Artest signs with Lakers, Trevor Ariza signs with Rockets

   Ron Artest          Trevor Ariza

Forward Ron Artest has agreed in principle to a 3 year deal with the defending champions, Los Angeles Lakers. Ron met with General Manager Joe Dumar and head coach Phil Jackson Thursday night.

Forward Trevor Ariza, who started in the NBA finals with the Lakers, signed with Houston Rockets, and will receive $5.3 million with Houston.

Ron was the top player with the Rockets during the Tracy McGrady and Yao Ming injuries in the NBA Playoffs. Lakers guard Kobe Bryant and Ron Artest have gotten in to arguing and shoving plenty of times, and Artest’s attutude is in question after a brawl in 2005 when he played for the Indiana Pacers, against the Detroit Pistons.

Trevor Ariza was the starting small forward for the Lakers. He played a big role in L.A.’s chamionship run, making big three’s and even bigger dunks. Both will be missed.
