Villanova won by 1 after a thrilling finish off a lay-up by Anderson from Villanova. Marquette had come back from 12 down. Marquette guard Dominic James cheered his team on when he was benched from an injury. McNeal from Marquette hit the 3 to put Marquette in the lead. Villanova finished with a back cut the had used all game. It worked.
